Fungi’s role in these ecosystems reveals a form of symbiosis that challenges human-centric views of communication and literature. The mycelium network behaves as a living infrastructure for poetic production, sharing not only nutrients but also the potential for an alien form of narrative or expression. We might even speculate that fungi, in their relational activity, generate Xenopoems by way of metabolizing and interacting with their environments. This could manifest as literal structures—patterns in ice, soil, or the remains of organic matter—that encode a type of “language” emergent from these symbiotic relations.
